Membership Information

Recovery Specialist Insurance Group established a purchasing group to acquire insurance for repossession businesses. Insurance protection in the recovery industry is an extremely fragile product to acquire and retain, as evidenced by the number of insurance carriers who exit the business after short stays. The success of RSIG is directly linked to each member’s integrity and their ability to follow professional recovery business practice for services to financial institutions and to comply with RSIG’s bylaws and operating guidelines.

To maintain the integrity and excellence of our network, potential members must meet specific criteria and demonstrate their commitment to the repossession industry. See below for detailed requirements.

  • Membership Pre-Qualifications

RSIG remains the premier group of insured repossession agencies by carefully underwriting and screening potential members. Part of that process is making sure that potential members meet certain criteria before undertaking the process of completing the application and gathering all the necessary information.

    • Minimum two (2) years verifiable experience as a manager or owner of a repossession business or qualified repossession experience in a finance adjustment related field. Continuous participation in recovering, securing, and disposing of collateral following applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
    • A secured storage facility (either leased or owned) with adequate security measures subject to inspection.

The membership committee will make their decision and you will be notified in writing of their decision. If approved, an inspector will contact you to make an appointment to complete the inspection of your office and storage facility. Approval is contingent upon the results of the inspection.
